Sessions
Normally, sessions are held weekly (same day and time, and in the same ‘mode’ – i.e., online, telephone or face-to-face). I offer full hour (60 minutes) sessions for 1-2-1 counselling, and 90-minute sessions for couples counseling.
Cancellation Policy
Where you cannot attend your regular sessions (e.g., holidays, medical appointments) I ask for as much notice as possible, and I will do the same. If you are unable to provide at least 24 hours’ notice of intention to cancel, or you do not turn up, then the agreed fee is chargeable.
Ending Counselling
You are free to end counselling at any time, of course. However, to bring the counselling process to a constructive end (including looking at what has been achieved) takes some time, so 1or 2 week’s notice is strongly recommended.
Confidentiality
Whilst everything we discuss is completely confidential and cannot normally be shared with others, there are two exceptions: where you disclose a safeguarding issue or involvement in human trafficking or money laundering; and in my own regular one-to-one supervision with another qualified therapist – this is also confidential and is a professional requirement to ensure I can offer you the best practice.
Data Protection & Privacy Policy
Any personal information you provide (e.g., during registration, initial consultation and therapy sessions) is stored securely and where possibly, confidentially. Personal details such as your name, address and phone number are kept separately from session notes which are anonymised and only identified by a code. Personal information is kept and used in a safe and ethical manner in line with GDPR, IOC, BACP and insurance guidelines and requirements, and is not shared with others without your consent unless a legal obligation is issued. You have the right to ask for a copy of your personal information and to ask me to amend any incorrect information, or to instruct me to erase any personal information that is no longer relevant to original purposes, or if you wish to withdraw consent. In all cases and when considering such requests, these rights are obligatory unless it is information that I have a legal obligation to retain. All records and personal information held are disposed of in a manner which ensures confidentiality. More detailed information is provided in the Counselling Agreement forwarded to you following your initial consultation.
